Acidosis

Acidosis refers to the build up of acid in your blood and body’s tissues.

You may remember from your grade school science classes that acidity is measured by the pH scale where the different values tell you if a substance is acidic, basic, or neutral. The lower on the scale something ranks the more acidic while the higher up you go, the more basic things get.

Ideally, human blood has a pH level between 7.3 and 7.5. For comparison, pure water has a pH level of 7, which means it’s neither acidic or basic.

In today’s world where convenience is key, most people indulge in processed food regularly. Processed foods have tons of additives like colors, stabilizers, and preservatives that contribute to acid build up in the body.

The most acidic part of your body lies in your stomach, which has a pH of 3.5 to help digest food. When this acidity rises and begins to affect the blood, your immune system becomes compromised. From here, you can fall ill with numerous diseases such as cancer, osteoporosis, and kidney stones.
